What to Expect in Treatment
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Project Victory works with military personnel and veterans of recent military service, who served in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom and who have screened positively for post concussive symptoms or been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury while in combat or stateside. Services within Project Victory are provided at no cost to the client and without regard to age, ethnicity or gender. SYMPTOMS ADDRESSED
Project Victory is intended for persons whose injuries impact their cognitive, physical or behavioral capabilities. The goal of Project Victory is to improve functioning and promote health management. THE REPORTED SYMPTOMS MAY
- Trouble with memory, attention or concentration
- Difficulty organizing tasks
- Blurry vision or eyes tire easily
- Easily angered or irritated
- Difficulty inhibiting behavior – impulsive
- More sensitive to sounds, lights or distractions
- Impaired decision-making or problem-solving
- Feeling tired all the time
- Headaches or ringing in the ears
- Slowed thinking, moving, speaking or reading
PROGRAM GOALS
- Improve cognitive, emotional, social and vocational functioning by assisting the client in acquiring compensatory strategies.
- Maximize the client’s quality of life and functioning in the community.
- Educate the client and significant others regarding the effects of brain injury and post traumatic stress, the rationale for rehabilitation and psychotherapy and the need to make accommodations for changes in functioning.
- Assist the client in developing and accepting realistic goals.
- Assist the client in identifying strategies and opportunities to achieve the highest possible level of functioning in personal adjustment, family and social relationships, academic endeavors and/or vocational status.
