Through Mission Connect, TIRR Foundation is investing $2,040,000 to expand the SCI research core originally established in 2016 with a $1.5 million grant from TIRR Foundation. In both 2016 and 2026, Texas A&M University has matched TIRR Foundation’s investment—demonstrating a powerful shared commitment to accelerating discoveries in neurotrauma research.

This new investment will support:

• Recruitment of new faculty researchers and startup packages
• Laboratory development and acquisition of specialized research equipment
• Research personnel and graduate student training
• Interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and institutions
• Research promotion and technology transfer activities

Together, these efforts are designed to accelerate the translation of scientific discovery into real-world clinical impact for individuals living with spinal cord injury.
